Growing up in Melbourne, Australia with an artist mother and structural engineer father probably explains why Blain has an uncanny ability to tune into the essence of a large man-made structure and record it on film! He has been creating memorable images for architects, developers, construction companies, hotels and resorts for over 15 years and is constantly honing his ability to capture both the aesthetic and functional qualities of a building. After many years commuting between Australia and South East Asia, Blain settled in Shanghai in 2005, putting him within easy reach of some of the most exciting new developments anywhere in the world.

When he’s not shooting steel and concrete, Blain softens his style to create memorable portraits and still life pieces. His highly acclaimed Icon Series Exhibition, produced for the Salvation Army in Australia, can be found at www.iconseries.com.
